How to Improve your Sleep as a Couple

Sleep is a very underestimated health factor amongst many people. We simply neglect how important it is for us to get the right amount of sleep, which is very unhealthy. Most people do this, because it’s so easy to “borrow” a few hours from our sleep schedule, so we have time to do the things we want to do in a day.

Sleep is important

Getting enough sleep has numerous health benefits. It helps reduce stress, improves our mood and gives us a good start to the day. This helps us think clearly, both in academic and work situations, but also in social situations. Getting the right amount of sleep also helps us control our weight. For people who go to the gym and are looking to gain muscle, it is also recommended to focus on getting sleep, as it helps muscle growth.

With the right amount of sleep, we also have a lower chance of getting sick. As such, the arguments for getting enough sleep are plenty. Notice however, that it is about getting the right amount, and not just a lot of sleep. Sleeping too much can have the almost opposite effect, making us feel lazy, and drained. This also often happens for people who stay in bed for too long, as it’s difficult to get their bodies going for the day.

Getting a good night’s sleep is often underestimated in relationships as well. Both for couples that live together, but also couples that sleep together every now and then. Finding a good balance is important though, because even though you might want to be romantic and spontaneous, a bad night of sleep can really ruin your next day.

The key to a healthy relationship

So implementing a few changes in the bedroom can be good for both your health, and your relationship. Don’t worry though. You don’t have to abandon all spontaneity. Having a healthy sex life can actually improve your sleep, as it is proven to relieve stress, and, as we know, doing cardio makes us tired. If you both reach an orgasm, you both get the maximum relief. To help your partner, you could consider introducing vibrators, or perhaps the best clit sucker, to improve your sex life.

However, before looking at such things, you should make sure that you have the basics covered. This means having a large enough bed that fits both of you. Sure it’s nice to cuddle up and be close, but after 7 or 8 hours of sleep, it’s good to be able to turn to yourself in order to be well rested.

Additionally, you can introduce habits such as no screen time an hour before bed. Screens give off a lot of blue light, which affects our sleep. Taking the last hour of the day to yourself, without screen time can be good for your health and your sleep. And if you take this time to enjoy each other’s company, this could be good for your relationship as well.
