how to make a bed

Introduction

Making your bed is one of the simplest things you can do to make your bedroom look neater. In this blog post, we will show you the steps on how to make a bed properly. Making your bed every morning may seem like a waste of time, but it can actually have some surprising benefits.  Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, these tips will help make sure your bed looks neat and tidy every time. So let’s get started!

Place Fitted sheet on the Bed

First, lay out the bed sheets. The top sheet and the duvet should be folded down to reveal the pattern of the top sheet. Then, fold down the duvet and put it on top of the sheets. The pillows make a huge difference in how to make a bed, so choose those accordingly. Choosing heavier or lighter pillows will help you create a focal point on the bed. You can also add Euro shams to give your bed a polished look.

If the bed is a queen-sized bed, then the top sheet should go over the mattress. The top sheet should have a large hem that falls over the mattress. If the top sheet is patterned, make sure to fold the patterned side of the sheet down. Next, spread the bottom sheet evenly over the mattress and tuck the edge under the pillow. You should have a perfectly-made bed now.

Put the top sheet on the bed, making sure to smooth out any wrinkles

After ironing the sheets, you can add starch spray to them to make them feel crisp and free of wrinkles. This will help keep the sheets in their wrinkle-free state for longer. Another great option for the starch spray is The Laundress’s brand of starch. Unlike steam irons, these steamer devices are safe for cotton sheets. Just make sure to use a low-temperature setting when ironing the sheets.

After the fitted sheet is set, place the top sheet on the bed. The top sheet should be taut, with a few inches of space between the comforter and mattress. Then, place the top flat sheets on the bed, making sure to smooth out any wrinkles. You can also choose to decorate the sheets with colorful or patterned pillowcases. You can even make a decorative bed if you are decorating with a comforter.

Tuck in the bottom of the top sheet so it’s snug against the mattress

The top sheet should fit over the fitted sheet. The top sheet should cover the entire mattress, but it should not overlap the sides. It is best to smooth out wrinkles before putting the top sheet on the bed.  If you do not have one, you can also use a spray bottle to apply water over the entire flat sheet.

When placing the top sheet, make sure to pull the sides tightly against the bottom of the bed. Once you have done this, you can place the blanket on the top of the bed. Then, fold the pillow sheets on the side of the bed. The top sheet is placed on the pillow. Lastly, fluff the pillows by holding each end in your hands. Using your hands to fluff the pillows will make them full. This is one step close to what’s an all-nighter.

Place duvet or Comforter on Top of the Bed

Place the comforter inside the cover of the duvet, beginning at the top. Then connect or button the comforter’s corners to the corners on the inside of your duvet. As you hold each of the corners on top, shake it around and then secure all the edges of the duvet and comforter to each other, just like the top. Put a button on, tie it or zip your duvet’s bottom, and gently shake it up across the upper sheet. Make sure that the sides are hung evenly on the sides. Here’s a simple and quick trick to put your duvet cover into the seemingly endless hole that is the duvet cover.

The Pillows should be Brushed

Take your pillows out then give them an excellent fluff before placing them on your mattress. To give a pillow a good fluffing you need to grab it from one side, and squeeze the sides before releasing the pressure – similar to playing the accordion!

Smooth the pillowcases and place each pillow on the foot of the bed to make room between the duvet that is folded over as well as the headboard.

If you own at least two pillows (on a queen-sized bed) , place the additional two pillows on top of the two pillows on the bottom.

If using a Quilt, Place it at the End of the Bed

This is possibly my favorite method of styling the look of a quilt. Then, place it on the top of your mattress. It’s not just that putting it up at the end of the mattress makes it easier to reach for on a cold evening, it creates a bed that looks warm and inviting! The duvet I used as the foundation of the bed and then laid the quilt over it. You can also utilize a comforter or other quilt for your base instead of a duvet.

You can achieve this second style by laying the quilt over your bed, over the top sheet. You can fold your top sheet and quilt inwards, and then cover it with the duvet to the side of your bed. I also love to put the throw over the duvet for a greater sense of a cozy appearance! This way you will know how to go to sleep early and how to wake up early every day.

Conclusion

Making a bed is one of those household tasks that, while seemingly simple, can be surprisingly tricky. If you’re not sure how to make a bed properly, follow these steps and you’ll have a neatly made bed in no time. First, you have to gather your materials. You will need a flat sheet, a fitted sheet, two pillowcases (or more if you have more than two pillows), and some sort of mattress cover (optional). place the flat sheet on top of the mattress. The long edge should hang over the edge of the mattress by about six inches. Fold the bottom third of the flat sheet up towards the middle so that it forms an inch-thick band around
