Off the Beaten Path Hotspots

Everyone wants to get away and explore new destinations, but often people turn to the same well-known tourist traps that everyone has seen in the movies or heard about in the news. While these places are great, they don’t represent the full spectrum of the world. With that in mind, we’ve put together a list of lesser known and undiscovered hotspots that you should consider adding to your next trip. Oltenia, Romania

If you’re looking for a unique European destination off the beaten track, you should check out Oltenia in Romania. Located in the south-western part of the country, the region is known for its lush green hills, picturesque villages, and stunning medieval fortresses. Its traditional and cultural heritage is preserved in the numerous monuments, monasteries, and churches scattered throughout the area. The Himalayas 

Heading to the east, we have the misty and mysterious Himalayas. Spanning five different countries including India, Nepal, Bhutan, and China, these awe-inspiring peaks offer breathtaking views and miles of untouched wilderness. Visit Tiger Hill in India to witness some of the most beautiful sunrise views you’ll ever see. Or, take a road trip and explore the high mountain passes and countless gorges such as Khardung La pass, the highest mountain pass in the world. Spend a night soaking in the starry sky and waking up to the crisp morning air and panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks.

Down-under 

It’s no secret that Australia is home to some of the world’s most unique and diverse landscapes. Tourists flock to all the usual spots such as the Great Barrier Reef and the Sydney Opera House, but there’s a lot more to explore. For instance, the majestic Flinders Ranges in South Australia is a must-visit for nature-lovers. Its stretch of mountains and valleys, sandstone hills, and sandy plains are great for camping and trekking in complete isolation. Guapi Assu, Brazil

Ready to explore something closer to the equator? Then you must add Guapi Assu in Brazil to your itinerary. Located in the northern state of Rio Grande do Norte, it offers an exceptionally lush and tropical seaside experience. You can swim with sea turtles, explore local caves, or simply relax on its miles of sandy beaches. And with seven national parks in the area, there are plenty of opportunities to hike or have an adventure.
